Turning Experience into Academic Credit

(APEL C – Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Credit Award)

APEL C, introduced by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), provides an opportunity for individuals to earn academic credits based on knowledge and competencies gained through prior work experience, professional training, or informal learning.

This initiative acknowledges that learning happens beyond the classroom and enables learners to demonstrate their achievements through a structured assessment process. Successful candidates can use these credits to shorten their study duration and advance toward graduation more efficiently.

Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) is a recognised APEL C (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Credit Award) Centre approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Through this recognition, UTeM provides opportunities for individuals to convert their relevant prior experiential learning—whether from work experience, training, or self-learning—into academic credits. This enables learners to accelerate their studies and gain formal recognition for the knowledge and skills they have acquired over time.
